Buddy Roberts

Dale Hey ( born May 16, 1945 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, † November 29, 2012 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American professional wrestler, who came from Canada. He has been known under the ring name Buddy Roberts and was one of the founding members of The Fabulous Freebirds Tag Teams.

Biography

Hey Dale grew up in Vancouver (British Columbia). He began in 1965 to wrestle under the name Dale Valentine and was introduced as the brother of Johnny Valentine. Around 1970 he changed his name to Buddy Roberts and founded the Tag Team "Hollywood Blonds " with Jerry Brown. The two have won numerous regional titles in the U.S..

In the late 1970s he joined with Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy for the tag team " The Fabulous Freebirds " together. His nickname " Jack" he received because of his fondness for whiskey Jack Daniel's brand.

World Class Championship Wrestling

When the Freebirds in 1982 switched to World Class Championship Wrestling ( WCCW ), they won numerous titles and had a long feud with the Von Erich family. Hey even feuded mostly with Chris Adams, one of the crowd favorites of the WCCW.

As part of a storyline Hey had a great performance in a Hair vs. Hair match - against Iceman Parsons, which resulted in the fact that it was a bald -shaven. He therefore wore for years an ill fitting wig that was held by a head protection from the boxes. This became one of his trademarks.

In Super Clash 1985 Hey helped his tag team partners, the AWA Tag Team title from the Road Warriors to get, but the output of the match was canceled later.

Universal Wrestling Federation

In 1986 he moved with the Freebirds for the Universal Wrestling Federation, where he won the Television Title as a single wrestler. Later he had to give it to Savannah Jack.

Return to World Class Championship Wrestling

In 1987, the Freebirds broke up briefly. Hey and Gordy teamed up with Iceman Parsons and fehdeten against their former leader Michael Hayes, who had allied himself with the Von Erichs. 1988 changed Hayes and Gordy to the Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling.

Retirement and death

Hey occurred in the NWA as a manager of Hayes and Jimmy Garvin in a match against Steve Armstrong and Tracy Smothers on, then retired but back from the wrestling and finished his career in 1990.

During his retirement Hey ill to throat cancer and had to undergo surgery. Since then, he had to rely on a voice prosthesis. On the website WWE.com he engaged against smoking. He died on 29 November 2012 at the age of 67 years.
