Buer (demon)

Buer is a spirit that is mentioned in the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, a grimoire of the 16th century, and in its derivatives; there he is referred to as the "Great Chairman of hell" ( praeses magnus ), at the same time he is the " commander in chief of fifty legions of demons " ( Quinquaginta legionum all were imperium ). He is said to appear when the sun is in Sagittarius. Buer teaches Natural and Moral Philosophy, Logic and the effects of herbs and plants. He also heals all infirmities, especially of men, and provides good protection spirits available.

He was described as a being in the form of protecting the zodiac, representing a centaur with a bow and arrow. In addition, Louis Breton drafted a representation of Buer, which was later engraved by M. Jarrault that shows him with a lion's head and five goat legs that surround his body and allow it to run in any direction.

This drawing has been used for more than one album or single cover various metal bands, such as with Wrong Eye / Scope of the British band Coil, the Black Sabbath bootleg Buer album or the album The Definitive Part One of the band Cloven Hoof.
