Bungie

The Bungie Studios is a U.S. manufacturer of computer games, under the name Bungie Software Products Corporation (abbreviated Bungie Software ) was founded by two students at the University of Chicago, Alex Seropian and Jason Jones, 1991. Among the well-known games include the Myth series and the Halo series of games.

History

Bungie developed at the beginning of games exclusively for the Apple Macintosh, which was released in November 1995 Marathon 2 only ran parallel on the PC. Then Bungie developed the fantasy real time strategy games Myth I: The Fallen Lords ( 1997) and Myth II: Soulblighter. The first part was sold in the year of publication in high numbers, Myth II was the over commercially somewhat, but is the most popular part of the series among fans. To a Myth III is no longer came by Bungie in the context of the buyout by Microsoft in 2000, the rights to the series at Take 2 Interactive fell because they share a large proportion of Bungie had. With the production of the Halo series, Bungie also achieved a commercial breakthrough. Soon after the release of Halo 3 Bungie separated but in 2007 on his own request from Microsoft, which, however, still financially involved in the club, and retains the rights to the Halo series. In April 2010, Bungie announced that it had signed an exclusive contract with Activision for the distribution of in the planning game series.
