Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses pour la Sécurité de l'Aviation Civile

The BEA (Bureau d' Enquêtes et d' Analyses pour la sécurité de l'Aviation Civile ) is the built in 1946 French Bureau of Investigation Aviation accidents and incidents, similar to the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation.

History

Their legal basis is based on the EU level on the Directive 94/56/EC of the Council of 21 November 1994 establishing the fundamental principles governing the investigation of accidents and incidents in civil aviation, ICAO agreements and national laws. Task of BEA is to objectively investigate aviation accidents such as crashes and incidents such as near misses from a technical point of view without affecting any legal investigation. The aim of the investigation is to clarify the circumstances that have led to the failure to possibly publish safety in order to avoid future accidents. The headquarters of the BEA is at Le Bourget airport near Paris ( Seine- Saint- Denis ).

The BEA is responsible for accidents in the French domestic (including the overseas departments such as French Guiana, Martinique ), and accidents abroad with French participation. "French participation " means the crashed plane:

  • Is registered in France
  • Is designed in France and built ( such as Airbus, ATR, Dassault, Eurocopter ).

In case of accidents French aircraft abroad, the BEA is working closely with the relevant authorities in each country. According to his own statement directs the BEA per year, more than 400 studies on interference in aviation on the French territory.
