The Burke River is a river in south-west of the Australian state of Queensland. He does not water all year round.

Geography

River

The river rises on the eastern slopes of Standish Ranges north of Boulia and south of Mount Isa. It flows south through Boulia. There he spent his run to the southwest and flows north-east of the Simpson Desert in the Georgina River.

Origin of the name

The Burke River was named in memory of Robert O'Hara Burke from the expedition of Burke and Wills.
