The Bursa Ataturk Stadium ( Turkish Bursa Atatürk Stadyumu ) is a 1979 finished football stadium in the Turkish city of Bursa. It is the home ground of football club Bursaspor. The stadium has a capacity of 25 456 spectators.
In May 2008, here the final was held at the Turkish Cup between Kayserispor and Gençlerbirliği.
The Turkish national football team made it to the stadium, defeating teams such as Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland.
The stadium is also used for other purposes such as national festivals and athletics competitions.
Since the current Atatürk Stadium nor sufficient from the comfort terms of capacity for major league football, a new stadium is built with a seating capacity of 45,000 spectators. The Timsah Arena stadium ( to German: Crocodile Arena) will be the first stadium in the world, having the form of a mascot (crocodile ) has a team. Construction is expected to be completed in 2013. The Atatürk Stadium should be retained for other sports activities for the time being.
After the championship game Bursaspor in the season 2009/ 10 and the following direct qualification for the Champions League, the club's management was forced to bring the stadium in a UEFA Conforming state to host the Champions League in home stadium can.
