The railway line Busenbach - Ittersbach is a railway line in the northern Black Forest. The mostly single-track and continuous electrified branch line branches off in Waldbronn - Busenbach of the Albtalbahn - with which it is operationally and historically closely linked - and performs as a spur track to Ittersbach. History

Meter track time

After Busenbach by the Albtalbahn on May 14 1898 - which also was initially meterspurig - received connection to Karlsruhe, went on 10 April 1899 the original 12.6 km long section Busenbach - Ittersbach in operation. The extension to Brötzingen, then a suburb of Pforzheim, followed on January 2, 1900. The line was initially navigate even with steam locomotives.

As the Albtalbahn also the route of Busenbach to Pforzheim by the West German Railway Company (WEG ) was built, which finally in 1898 to the newly founded subsidiary Badische local railways Aktien-Gesellschaft ( BLEAG ) earned.

1911 also the route of Busenbach after Ittersbach was electrified, the driving voltage was initially 8000 and later 8800 volts. Uses this was single-phase alternating current with 25 Hertz. Technical problems and lack of power station coal forced the BLEAG 1917 to adjust the electrical equipment on the Busenbacher branch line, the top line was consequently reduced.

In the wake of the global economic crisis, the BLEAG increasingly came under pressure and therefore put the unprofitable operation between Busenbach and Ittersbach early 1931. The remaining piece to Pforzheim, however, was sold to the city of Pforzheim and is now operated by it.

Also operation between Busenbach and Ittersbach could be resumed only after the acquisition of BLEAG by the German railway operating company ( DEBG ) in 1932. By 1936, the line was finally electrified again.

To April 1, 1957 finally took the AVG the route. Unlike the neighboring Albtalbahn the route Ittersbach by the AVG was not umgespurt under running operation, but temporarily shut down 14 November 1964.
