Business rules engine

A Business Rule Engine ( BRE ) is a technical software component as part of a business rule management system (BRMS ) that enables efficient execution of business rules and business rules. The primary goal of the BRE is to separate the business logic from the program logic or process logic, which enables radical changes to the professional business logic without having to make changes to the program code or the design of the business process.

Other components of a BRMS are a business rule repository and a business rule editor.

The most prominent provider of business rules engines are FICO, IBM WebSphere ILOG JRules, Bosch Software Innovations, Pegasystems, JBoss ( JBoss Rules and the open source project Drools ), Computer Associates, Gensym and Corticon.
