Bussy-Saint-Georges

Bussy -Saint -Georges is a commune with 25,135 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Seine- et- Marne in the Île- de -France region. It belongs to Arrondissement Torcy Torcy and Canton.

Geography

The community is located 31 km east from the center of Paris ( Notre Dame) on the A4 Paris -Reims motorway and is on the edge of the agglomeration of Greater Paris. It is part of the new plan town of Marne -la- Vallée, which also approximately 6 km west of Bussy -Saint -Georges Disneyland Paris is integrated.

History

  • Bussy -Saint -Georges is first mentioned in 841 as Villa Buxido.
  • In the 13th century the name Bussy -Saint -Georges appears.
  • In April 1985, creation of the new city, which is formed around the old village around.

Population Development

Bussy -Saint -Georges is a rapidly growing city, whose population increased from 535 in 1985 to 18,772 in 2006. This was done by applying generous housing estates and business parks ( inter alia, the district Gustav Eifel), which attracted particular citizens from the Greater Paris. This development is not yet complete, so that a population of 22,000 is predicted for the year 2010. This rapid population growth is related to the sharp rise in property prices in Paris and surroundings. Many young families from the middle class are forced to move away from the city to be able to afford a home still can. The city is one of the municipalities with the highest per capita debt in France. Since they primarily large families live in Bussy, the cost of nurseries and kindergartens devour almost two thirds of municipal funds.
