Buxy

Buxy is a commune with 2184 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Saône -et -Loire, in Burgundy; it belongs to the district of Chalon- sur -Saône and is capital of the canton Buxy. The place is situated about 20 km from Chalon -sur- Saône.

Buxy is within the defined limits of the wine region of Burgundy. Defined areas are approved for the production of wines under the appellation Bourgogne.

Near the site, a limestone of the Middle Jurassic ( Bajocian ) is degraded, which has gained for the architectural culture of the region and beyond meaning. Applications can be found among others in Cluny.

History

Buxy (formerly buxum and Buxiacum, later Bussiacum ) was the site of an old hospital that was affiliated with the Hospital of Tournus in the 17th century, as well as a podestà ( Prévôté ). The Seigneurie, which initially belonged to the Counts of Chalon, 1237 came to the Dukes of Burgundy, and was in 1477 by King Louis XI. united with the crown, which is why the place was temporarily called Buxy -le- Royal. 1565 fell Buxy after marriage to Françoise d' Orléans - Longueville Louis I de Bourbon, prince de Condé, then to their son Charles de Bourbon- Condé, comte de Soissons and grandson Louis de Bourbon- Condé, comte de Soissons, the the rule in 1626 sold to the Marquis d' Uxelles.
