Buziaş ( German ( Bad ) Busiasch, Hungarian Buziásfürdő or Buziás ) is a town in Timiş, Banat, Romania. According to the census in 2002 Buziaş had a population of 7738 people. This figure dropped to 2007 to 7712 inhabitants.

Geographical Location

Buziaş located on the edge of the Silascher wine hills. The village is located in the middle of the highway Timisoara - Lugoj and also has a railway connection to each two cities. Buzias is 25 kilometers from the city of Lugoj and 34 km from Timişoara.

History

At the point where is Buziaş today, there were already in the year 101 a Roman fort named Ahihis. The Buziaşer mineral water is still one of the most sought Medicinal drinking water of the Banat. The Romans used the healing power of carbonated mineral water. A first chemical analysis of the mineral water took place in 1796, but his healing power was not recognized until the early 19th century.
