Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The Bwindi rainforest is a National Park in southwestern Uganda. It extends across the flanks of the Albert Rift, the northern part of the East African grave breach. The rain forest of Bwindi is original and very old. He has developed since the last ice age to what it is today. The height of the park above sea level extends from 1160 m to 2607 m. The park is on UNESCO 's list of World Heritage Site since 1994.

Fauna

In the sanctuary of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Lands talks to 340 animals, about half of all still living mountain gorillas, besides also chimpanzees, other apes species, elephants and various small antelope. The endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda are also still protected in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in the area of the Virunga Volcanoes. Other mountain gorillas live in the immediate vicinity of the park in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The total population in Bwindi about 90 mammalian species, including monkeys such as the black-and- white Guereza (a large Colobus ). Next to him and the mountain gorilla there are currently nine other primate species. Among the birds there are 23 endemic, that is native only to this area, species.
