BYD Qin

The BYD Qin is a hybrid vehicle of the Chinese car manufacturer BYD Auto, a subsidiary of BYD Group.

The vehicle was in 2012 at the Beijing International Auto Exhibition first shown publicly and presented in more detail in April 2013 at the Auto Shanghai. It is the successor to the BYD F3DM, the Chinese had no success in the market and its production has now ceased.

The Qin, who has already been delivered in late 2013 to the dealers should go on sale in early 2014. According to newspaper reports, the manufacturer is waiting with the launch until the Chinese government has published the announced tax breaks and other subsidies for environmentally friendly vehicles.

Compared to the predecessor model, the Qin to a higher power of the electric motor (now 2x110 kW ) and a smaller and lighter lithium iron phosphate battery. The latter is a development of the parent company, BYD, one of the world's largest manufacturer of rechargeable batteries. These recyclable high-energy cell (13 kWh) is considered safe (no thermal runaway ) and as environmentally friendly ( no heavy metals or toxic electrolytes). According to the manufacturer, the stored energy is sufficient to the vehicle 70 km without recharging (and without any use of the gasoline engine ) back down.

The manufacturer advertises that this is the fastest series - hybrid vehicle on the market, but this is not proven. The acceleration is specified at 5.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km / hr. A top speed has not yet been published.

Naming

The model is named after the Qin Dynasty, one of the most important sections of Chinese history. BYD is the acronym for: build your dreams.
