C-SPAN

C-SPAN ( Cable -Satellite Public Affairs Network ) is an American television channel, which exclusively reported on the legislative, judicial and constitutional government in the United States. The station began on 19 March 1979 of the broadcasts.

The program of the Parliamentary Television offers are the live coverage of the U.S. Congress as well as the broadcasting of official statements and press conferences by the U.S. government as well as interviews on political issues.

Under the name C- SPAN2, a second channel was offered with the same principle in 1986. See recent book discussions under the name Booknotes, the meetings of the U.S. Senate and other special events are aired.

The less common C- span3 radiates weekdays from other current and historical programs.

In Internet live streams are available from all three television programs. Also shown is the C-SPAN radio station in Washington -Baltimore ( WCSP -FM 90.1 MHz). In Germany, all three programs of C -SPAN can be received via the peer-to -peer service Livestation. Through the website of C-SPAN Video Library makes the station his entire video archive for free to the public.

C-SPAN is managed by the non-profit organization National Cable Satellite Corporation and is a founding American cable network companies. It is private, but not operated commercially. The television is solely from fees of cable operators that broadcast C-SPAN financed. Since 1982, the television program is broadcast round the clock.

In March 1979, C-SPAN reached 3.5 million subscribers, today reached 100 C-SPAN million people via satellite and cable television.
