Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge

The Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge is a wildlife refuge on the type of a National Wildlife Refuge in the Sonoran Desert. It is located in Pima County in the south of the U.S. state of Arizona and borders over a length of 90 km from Mexico. It is equipped with 3480 km ² larger than Luxembourg and the third largest game reserve in the Lower States. The name Cabeza Prieta comes from the Spanish and means dark head, derived from an eponymous mountain in the reserve.

The area is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, an agency under the auspices of the U.S. Department of the Interior.
