Cake Like
Cake Like was an indie rock band from New York, consisting of Kerri Kenney -Silver (bass and vocals), Nina Hellman (guitar and second voice ) and Jody Seifert (drums).
Band History
The band formed in 1993 in New York. In a play at the New York University Kerri met Nina, this was just right to start a new band with her friend Jody. All three had never played an instrument and thus made their own style. Their songs are very poetic, but at the same time also turned off. They met John Zorn, which enabled them to release their debut album " Delicious" under his record label Avant Records. Later, Ric Ocasek was aware of them and this brought the three girls to a larger record company, namely " Vapor Records ". This label then released the two albums " Bruiser Queen" and "Goodbye, So What".
The band was disbanded in 1999 because the lead singer Kerri Kenney, because of their Schauspielkarierre to Los Angeles had to move.
Today, Kerri Kenney is a well-known actress in the United States. Among others, she has starred in the MTV movie "The State", but her most famous role was in the series " Reno 911! ", Where she played a policewoman. The U.S. series was discontinued after the 6th season of 2009. Nina Hellman is also an actress, but it's often seen in theater performances. In 2007, she will be the first time with her former bandmate Kerri Kenney-Silver front of the camera, both have a role in the movie "THE TEN " by also join Jessica Alba and Adam Brody.
Jody Seifert has worked in the fashion industry today.
A new sign of life of the band gave Nina Hellman mid-May 2007 on the official MySpace. Due to the great response from the fans, they have decided to try some concerts to give. About a new album was discussed only superficially. This was early November 2007, withdrawn from her, as it would be time no longer compatible after consultation with Kerri and Jody.
