Cala Gonone

The resort of Cala Gonone is located in the middle of the east coast of Sardinia, on the Golfo di Orosei. The district belongs to the municipality Dorgali.

The former fishing village has now become a pure resort, a seaside resort with beach and caves. Like virtually everywhere in Sardinia there are but few taller buildings. The majority of holiday homes consists of low-rise bungalows, which adapt to the landscape.

In addition to the turbulent holiday and bathing takes place in the summer time for some years a jazz festival. The beaches here are not particularly wide and, in contrast to other East Coast rough stony.

4 km south of Cala Gonone, the road ends above Cala Fuili, one last beach which can be reached even without a boat. The remaining part of the Bay of Orosei to down to Santa Maria Navarrese is cliff. Nearby is the Grotta del Bue Marino.

Approach

You can reach Cala Gonone from the winding country road SS125 in Dorgali through a tunnel - because like everywhere around here, the coast and the main road in a north-south direction are separated by a mountain range. The big new tunnel is now completed. The old small round tunnel continues as a passage for pedestrians and bicycles.

After the tunnel then performs a several kilometers long scenic road down to the coast to Cala Gonone.
