Cala Tuent

Cala Tuent is a bay with a pebbly beach in the northwest of the island of Mallorca. It is located in the municipality of Escorca below the Puig Major, the highest 1445 meter mountain of the Tramuntana mountain range.

Location and description

The Cala Tuent lies between the two headlands of Morro Forat and Penyal Foradat. The beach of Cala Tuent, the Platja de Tuent, has a length of 180 meters, the average width is 55 meters. Pebbles, rocks and small sandy areas alternate. Due to the elongated expanse of the sea inlet, there is a moderate wave action within the bay. The water quality is excellent. Outside the marked swimming area, there are colder, some strong currents. The bay is not monitored by lifeguards. The boat traffic is minimal.

At the sides of steep mountain slopes a few houses stand in the bay framing pine forest. The building of a former restaurant in the middle of the beach was demolished after prolonged vacancy, but there is a small beach bar open on the north side. At the Cala Tuent opens the torrent Torrent de sa Coma, a confluence of the two are not constantly carrying water mountain streams Torrent de s'Aŀlot Mort and Torrent Gorg of the dinner, which rises directly on the peak of Puig Major. There is a boat service from Sóller in the bay.
