CalculiX

CalculiX is a free, GPL'ed finite element program. It is developed by Guido Dhondt and Klaus Wittig, both employees of MTU Aero Engines for three-dimensional structure calculations. It takes advantage of the Abaqus input format for the equation solver. So, you can take advantage of numerous pre-and post-processors. For numerical flow simulations CalculiX understood with the free CFD codes duns, ISAAC and OpenFOAM. Even with the commercial FEM programs Nastran and Ansys and the free FEM program code Aster CalculiX can work together.

In the university environment CalculiX example of the " FAM - Applied Mechanics Division" used at the University of Paderborn.
