Calm Before the Storm is the fifth studio album by British heavy metal band Venom.

Formation

In 1986, guitarist Mantas left the band, followed Cronos and Abaddon the two new guitarists Mykus and James Clare brought into the line-up. According Cronos this was the time of the band to experiment. So the four band members went to a new plant, Calm Before the Storm, which was originally intended under the name Fire on the market. The song Fire was published in 1988 as a single.

Musical Style

The album differs from the earlier Venom albums, like Black Metal or Welcome to Hell. It is structured in the structure and, as the band was a quartet now, you could incorporate more complex music, for example, two -note solos or lead guitar. Moreover, had the song Cronos ' not so rough and spent as on earlier works, but more melodic and slightly higher. The more commercial orientation was accused the band of some of their fans.

In retrospect regretted Cronos to have recorded the album along with Abaddon and published as Venom album. Mykus and James Clare were capable guitarist, but rather on playing and not, as manta rays, considered the generation of noise and Venom's appearance on the stage. He wanted to be a professional then, the band had intended, however, to solve for A Little Night Music. Calm Before the Storm was not a Venom album.
