The Golden Mormons tulip ( Calochortus amabilis ) is a species of the genus Mormons tulip ( Calochortus ) in the lily family ( Liliaceae ).

Features

The Golden Tulip is a Mormon autumn to spring green, perennial herbaceous plant that reaches the plant height of 10 to 50 centimeters. This Geophyt forms onions as outlasting. The leaves are linear, slightly bluish green and 20 to 50 inches long, the basal leaves are preserved in the heyday.

The flowers are nodding, closed and deeply colored yellow. The outer bracts are 10 to 15 millimeters long and spread out, the inner 16 to 20 millimeters long and ciliated.

The flowering period extends from June to July.

Occurrence

The Golden Tulip Mormon comes in northwestern California before in open forests and thickets at elevations of 100 to 1000 meters.
