The Vesta - Mormons tulip ( Calochortus Vestae ) is a species of the genus Mormons tulip ( Calochortus ) in the lily family ( Liliaceae ).

Features

The Vesta - Mormons tulip is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches the plant height of 30 to 50 centimeters. This Geophyt forms onions as outlasting. The nectar glands are shaped like two crescent moons. The tepals are 3 to 4 inches long, white to purple in color and have a red-brown basal spot, which is surrounded by a pale yellow zone.

The flowering period extends from June to July.

Occurrence

The Vesta - Mormons tulip comes in Northwest and Central California in the evergreen pine and mixed forests ago on clay at altitudes of 500 to 900 meters.
