Camaralet

Camaralet de Lasseube is an indigenous white grape variety in the wine region of Sud -Ouest in southwestern France. The extremely rare vine ( in 2000, a total of 0.26 hectares of vines cultivated applicable) is still cultivated in the appellations Béarn and Jurançon. The berries have a balanced sugar / acid ratio and give fine, dry white wines, which are ideal blending partner for the Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng varieties. As part of a conservation breeding seven clones were selected.

A study published in 2007 study shows that the varieties Arrouya, Camaralet de Lasseube, Camaraou Blanc, Noir and Camaraou Penouille are genetically very closely related.

1998 clones were 1023 and 1024 allowed for growing quality wines.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In the ampelography the habit is described as follows:

• The shoot tip is open. She is hairy white wool. The yellowish young leaves are hairy easy flame
• The leaves are five-lobed (see the article sheet form). The petiole is lyrenförmig open. The blade is serrated blunt. The teeth are set small and cramped compared to other varieties.
• The cone - shaped to cylindrical grape is small. The roundish berries are also small.

The vine grew strong tendency to strong coulure due to her female flowers. The yields are low in the sequence. Camaralet de Lasseube matures about 20 - 25 days after Chasselas grape variety and is one of the varieties of the late second maturation period ( see the section in the article vine ). Makes it one of the mid-late maturing varieties. Camaralet de Lasseube is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ). She has only female flowers and thus is not itself fruiting. When viticulture formed the economic disadvantage of no return delivered to male plants need to grow.
