Cambridge Z88

The Cambridge Z88 is a small laptop with LC display based on the Z80 CPU Zilog and was built from April 1987. He founded was produced by Cambridge Computer, a company that Sir Clive Sinclair, after he had sold the computer business of Sinclair Research, 1986 to the competitors Amstrad. Due to the business with Amstrad he could no longer sell computers under his own name. Despite some success, mainly in the UK, the total Z88 could not prevail and Clive Sinclair was the last computer. The Z88 came from Sir Clive Sinclair's Pandora Portable computer project, which focused on the development of the computer since the mid- 1980s.

Today's use

The Z88 has still a fan base, so that the device is still in use by fans. A whole range of software for the device can still be bought, including games and utilities. Since 1998, there has eine1 MiB flash memory card, which is used as non-volatile data storage.
