Camille Roqueplan

Camille Roqueplan [ ʀɔkplɑ ] ( born February 18, 1802 in Mallemort, Bouches -du -Rhône, † September 30, 1855 in Paris) was a French painter and lithographer.

Life and work

Roqueplan, pupil of Antoine -Jean Gros, especially painted genre paintings from the higher society as well as landscapes and marines. He worked primarily with the effects of light and colors.

In the historical museum at Versailles there is a representation of the battle of Elchingen. The Wallace Collection in London, the work of The Lion in Love ( The Passionate Lion) in their inventory.
