Camillo Mastrocinque

Camillo Mastrocinque ( born May 11, 1901 in Rome, † 23 April 1969, Rome ) was an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor.

Life

Mastrocinque spent many years in France, where he had gone because of the deepening his architectural studies and then as a theater dramaturg and assistant director working in film; since the 1920s, he worked in the film industry. After returning to his native country, it took until 1937, when he himself directed. Until his retirement he made about 60 films, including several comedies; often he worked here together with the comedian Totò. Late in his career he also directed two horror movies and staged for television. Occasionally he could be ( as of Pietro Germi or Lucio Fulci ) are also involved as an actor.

Mastrocinque 1941 won the prize at the Venice Film Festival for the film I Mariti. In Rome, a street is named after him.
