Camilo Luzuriaga

Camilo Luzuriaga (* 1953 in Loja ) is an Ecuadorian director, screenwriter and producer.

Biography

Between 1971 and 1976, Luzuriaga actor was in a theater group called Grupo Ollantay.

Thereafter he devoted himself to photography. Luzuriaga had five solo exhibitions and organized the 1982 Primer Encuentro Nacional de Fotografia Contemporánea in Ecuador. From 1982 to 1887, he was a professor of photography at the Faculty of Arts of the Universidad Central del Ecuador, and since 1994 at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador.

In 1977 he turned Tierra Cañari, a documentary short film.

His first feature film, La Tigra took Luzuriaga 1990. In the Film Festival of Cartagena, the film won the awards in the categories Best Film and Best debut release.

In 1996 Entre Marx y una mujer desnuda, the film adaptation of a novel by Jorge Enrique Adoum. The film won the Premio in Havana Coral for Best Director and in Trieste prices for best director and best soundtrack.

Then turned Luzuriaga Cara o Cruz (2003) and 1809/1810 Mientras llega el día.

Immediately inform the Ecuadorian director at the Escuela de Cine y Actuación in Quito.
