Camp Mackall

Camp Mackall is an airfield ( Army Airfield ) and a training facility of the U.S. Army west of Fort Bragg in the U.S. state of North Carolina, the headquarters of the XVIII Airborne Corps, the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command ( USASOC ) and the Special Forces.

The base is primarily the selection and training of Special Forces and SERE training for all special operations units of the Army. Organizationally, it is one of Fort Bragg.

Name

On February 8, 1943, the Base General Order Number 6 the name Camp Mackall in honor of Private John Thomas ( Tommy ) Mackall, the one as a paratrooper of the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment during Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of North Africa in 1942, of French fighter was fatally wounded.

Facilities

The Colonel Nick Rowe Special Forces Training Facility (Eng. " Colonel Nick Rowe Special Forces training facility " ) performs the selection and qualification procedures of the Special Forces, the 24-day Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course (Eng. " Special Forces Occupation and selection course " ), the following Special Forces Qualification course (" Q course " ) and the SERE training as well as various other training procedures.

The obstacle course is considered the most sophisticated training facility of its kind in the Army and is colloquially known as Nasty Nick only.
