Camp Warehouse

The Camp Warehouse is a military base, which is located about ten kilometers east of the center of the Afghan capital Kabul. The camp, which was formerly used as an industrial warehouse, was built mostly by soldiers of the Bundeswehr. Meanwhile, there are several thousand soldiers stationed.

Security situation

The camp, located in a small valley, has been repeatedly target of rocket attacks and a suicide attack. Most of these attacks were happening before Christmas 2002.

Naming

The term " Camp Warehouse " is probably due to the initially improvised atmosphere or derived from the fact that before the establishment of the army camps was used as industrial warehouse, a large part of the area. At the beginning of the ISAF mission, the soldiers had to sleep about almost exclusively in tents. For service offices taped windows were initially common. The situation has however been improvements.

Leadership

The Bundeswehr has taken over the command of ISAF throughout northern Afghanistan on June 1, 2006. The focus of the German mission was it moved from Kabul to the northern Afghan Mazar -i -Sharif, where the Bundeswehr is currently their biggest encampment outside Germany, Camp Marmal builds. Camp Warehouse was passed on 15 July 2006, France.
