Campeonato Regional Centro

The Campeonato Centro (German: Center Championship) was a Spanish football club competition, which was established by the Madrid Union in 1902 and subsequently was also attended by teams from several other regions of the central Spanish. The competition has long served as a qualification tournament for the Cup mode discharged in Copa del Rey, which was the only pan- Spanish competition in 1928 to the founding of the Spanish Championship. In 1940 the Campeonato Centro was held for the last time.

History

In the early years of the Spanish football club, there was no discharged in the league championship mode general government, long trips but were at that time -consuming and costly for the club. Instead, there were numerous regional tournaments, the winners were allowed to participate in the Copa del Rey. At Madrid, the regional federation Federación Madrileña de Foot -Ball was founded in 1903, and at the same time held its first city championship. Winner was the Moderno FC founded a year earlier ( an association in 1904 merged with the current Real Madrid). In 1913, the Association joined the clubs from neighboring regions of Castile (Avila, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Segovia and Toledo) in, it was renamed in Castellana Federación de Fútbol, the tournament was renamed Campeonato Centro. As of 1931, also took part in changing clubs from Aragon, Andalusia, La Rioja and Cantabria in the competition, which is why the name of the competition changed several times:

The introduction of the Spanish Championship in the 1928/29 season evaluated the regional championships in Spain from rapidly, most, including the Campeonato Centro, were abolished in 1940. Only the Copa Catalunya will be held today in modified form. Record champion of the Campeonato Centro is Real Madrid, with a total of 23 titles.
