Canada Life Building

The Canada Life Building is a Grade II listed office building in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The fifteen- story building stands out for its Beaux -Arts architecture. The building was built by Sproatt & Rolph and reaches a height of 87 meters, with 97.8 meters Weather column. The building is located at the University and Queen Street in downtown Toronto.

History

After the completion of the building in 1931 as one of four buildings served as headquarters of the insurance company Canada Life Assurance Company. The Beaux Architecture was the first of a series of planned buildings along University Avenue. Due to the Great Depression, plans were discarded. When the building was completed, it was the largest building in Toronto.
