Canadian Gold Maple Leaf

The Canadian Maple Leaf referred to by the English term for the characteristic leaf of the maple sugar, is the most widely used after the Krugerrand bullion coin. It is characterized since 1979.

Gold Maple Leaf

The Gold Maple Leaf is issued in various denominations with fine weights of 1 /20 to 1 ounce. Once a denomination of 1/15 ounce 1994 shaped.

Mintmark is the Royal Canadian Mint. In the first three years, emboss the Maple Leaf had a fineness of 999 parts per thousand gold. The sale of these coins is exempt from VAT in all EU countries and Switzerland, as with all other gold bullion coins also. The Maple Leaf belongs to the Krugerrand gold coins to the best-selling worldwide. The value of coins depends on the current gold price and is currently well above the nominal value.

In 2007, a limited five- piece version was produced with a weight of 100 kg and a nominal value of 1 million CAD. In 2008, each of these coins had a value of about two million euros. One of them, belonged to the bankrupt AvW Invest AG, was auctioned on 25 June 2010 for 3.27 million euros by the Spanish precious metals trading company Oro Direct. Another is in the possession of the British Queen Elizabeth II, two in the United Arab Emirates and is privately owned.

Silver Maple Leaf

Since 1988, the Maple Leaf is also issued in silver, with a weight of 1 ounce and a nominal value of 5 CAD. In 1998 a commemorative coinage of 10 troy ounces in the nominal value of 50 CAD and a circulation of 13,500 shares was issued under the theme 10 years Silver Maple Leaf. Sales package includes also a black leather box and a silver certificate of authenticity were included. In recent years, in addition, some special issues were minted for example with multicolored maple leaf with or hologram.

This coin is just like any other silver bullion coins in Germany at the full tax rate sales tax.

Platinum Maple Leaf

The Maple Leaf is also available as a platinum coin since 1988. The coinage of platinum Maple Leaf was discontinued in 1999. Denominations and denominations correspond to the Maple Leaf gold.
