History

Construction led the engineer Marie -Emile Vuigner out in the years 1839-1841, after the water had been found for the previously constructed Canal de l' Ourcq as inadequate.

Economic Importance

The channel has had a relevant economic importance at any time. Today is attempting to use the channel for water tourism. For this reason, excursions are organized with boats from the north end of the Canal de l' Ourcq, which lead to the Canal de Clignon until after Moisy, where tourists can visit a Commandery of Knights Templar with a Gothic chapel dating from 1210.
