Cantaura Massacre

The massacre of Cantaura was an incident in which the Venezuelan military on 4 October 1982, the guerrilla group " Americo Silva " near Cantaura, in the state of Anzoategui, attacked.

This operation was described by certain sectors as links massacre. 23 of 41 guerrillas were killed. Some should only be killed when they were taken already caught.

In September 2010, Róger Cordero Lara, one of the soldiers who were involved in the massacre, was elected as a candidate of the PSUV, with the support of the Communist Party of Venezuela. The NGO Provea has responded and requested the waiver of immunity Cordero.
