Cape au Moine

Look at the Cape au Moine from the northwest.

The Cape au Moine ( German: monk robe ) is a mountain in the Fribourg Pre-Alps on the border of the Swiss cantons of Vaud and Fribourg. The 1941 meter high peak is located between the valley of Hongrin and the Valley of the Baye de Montreux, which drains into the basin of Lake Geneva. Along the running in a north-south direction the ridge, on which lies the summit between the Vanil of Artses and the Dent de Jaman, runs the European watershed. The mountain dominates the Vaud Riviera and offers panoramic views over Lake Geneva. From the south Col de Jaman, a hiking trail along the west flank of the mountain leads to the north of the summit lying Col de Pierra - Perchia (1860 m), from which the summit through a challenging alpine trail is accessible.
