Cape Tribulation, Queensland

Cape Tribulation (English: " Cape of Tribulation" ) is a headland on the east coast of Australia. It is located about 45 km north of Port Douglas and 110 kilometers north of Cairns in Queensland. There Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef collide directly.

The name derives from the fact that James Cook and his ship ran his first South Seas voyage (1768-1771) due to there and would be nearly lost. Only after month-long repair work he was able to continue his journey.

In the local village live around 150 inhabitants. The place can be reached usually with a normal car. The path leads to a ferry across the Daintree River. The town itself consists of several resorts and accommodation as well as some restaurants. North of the Cape is Cooktown, which can be reached from there only with a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Cape Tribulation is a UNESCO World Heritage Wet Tropics of Queensland.
