Cape Verdean parliamentary election, 2011

The parliamentary elections in Cape Verde in 2011 took place in the West African island nation of Cape Verde on February 6, 2011. The ruling Social Democratic Party since 2001 Partido Africano da Independencia de Cabo Verde ( PAICV, German: "African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde " ), under the leadership of Prime Minister Jose Maria Neves received more than 50 percent of the votes cast. Their main opponent was as in all elections since the introduction of multiparty system in 1991, the Liberal Party Movimento para a Democracia (Cape Verde) (MPD, German: Movement for Democracy ), led by Carlos Veiga, the received time 40 percent of the vote. Both parties dominate the political process in Cape Verde since the transition to multi-party democracy in 1991 and have so far ruled the country every ten years.
