Capesterre-Belle-Eau

Cape Terre -Belle- Eau is a municipality with 19,448 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the French overseas department of Guadeloupe. The inhabitants of Cape St Riens call themselves.

Geography

The village is located in the southeast of Basse- Terre. The Sea Coast - Cape Terre -Belle- Eau is located on the Caribbean Sea - is, like the village, Cabesterre, a name that already existed in the 17th century. The municipality has an interest in the National Park of Guadeloupe and also contains other monuments.

History

The area on which later Capesterre -Belle- Eau arose, was discovered on November 4, 1493 by Christopher Columbus, who believed known to have reached India. The settlement took its beginnings in the 17th century, when the Governor Charles Houël of the Compagnie des Iles d' Amérique, the American Inselkompagnie, had been sent.
