Capesterre-de-Marie-Galante

Cape Terre- de -Marie- Galante is a municipality with 3352 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the French overseas department of Guadeloupe.

Geography

Cape Terre is on the Atlantic Ocean, on the southeast coast of the island of Marie -Galante. The community has a stake in the mountain range of the island, the Mornes. The highest point, the Morne constant in the north of the parish, is situated on 204 m asl

From the history

From the 17th century, the name Cabesterre is known. The site is exposed to strong winds due to its location. The castle that once stood for the protection of the settlement, was founded in 1928 affected and reconstructed in the sequence.
