Capo Passero

Capo Passero is a cape on the southeast tip of Sicily in the town of Portopalo di Capo Passero. It is the eastern tip of a small island, the Isola di Capo Passero is there about 300 meters off the Sicilian coast.

At sea off the Cape Spain and the UK, were on August 11, 1718 as part of the War of the Quadruple Alliance, named after the Battle of Cape. A British fleet under Admiral George Byng attacked a Spanish transport squadron and destroyed several Spanish ships of the line. As a result, Great Britain won the naval supremacy in the area.
