Cappella Sansevero

( Known as the Cappella Sansevero de ' Sangri or Pietatella ) Cappella Sansevero is a small Baroque church with numerous marble sculptures north of the Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, in the historic center of Naples, Italy. It was built in 1590 as a burial place of di Sangro family, was the private chapel of Raimondo di Sangro ( 1710-1771 ), Prince of Sansevero, a noble inventor and alchemist, and was restored by him in the 18th century. Then the prince was a member of the Freemasons, there is a wealth of Masonic symbols in the works of art and on the floor.

Special attractions are the church of the Veiled Christ ( Cristo velato ) by Giuseppe Sanmartino ( 1720-1793 ), the disappointment ( Disinganno ) by Francesco Queirolo and Chastity ( Pudicizia ) by Antonio Corradini.

In the so-called crypt two skeletons from the 18th century are kept behind glass, the blood vessels are intact.
