Carapeguá

Carapeguá ( Guaraní: Karapegua ) is a city in Paraguay ( South America). It is the capital of the Distrito Carapeguá and is located in the department of Paraguarí. The distance to the capital Asunción is about 84 kilometers.

The city lies on the dried-up river Caañabé and was founded in 1725 by Martin de Barua. It has around 6,000 inhabitants (calculated 2002). In the same Distrito Carapeguá live around 30,000 people.
