CaraÈ™-Severin County
Caras -Severin [ karaʃ severin ] is a Romanian county ( Judet ) in the Banat with the county town of Resita ( Resita German, Hungarian Resicabánya ). Its common abbreviation and the license plate number are CS.
The circle Caras -Severin located in southwest Romania, bordered to the north and west by the Timiş county, in the north- east and east by the county of Hunedoara, further to the east by the county of Gorj, on the southeast and the south by the county Mehedinţi, further in the south and west by the Republic of Serbia.
Demography
In 2002, Caras -Severin had 333 396 inhabitants and a population density of 39 inhabitants per km ².
2011 had the Caras -Severin county 295 579 inhabitants thus a population density of 35 inhabitants per km ².
Geography
The county has a total area of 8520 km ² - making it the third largest of the 41 counties - equivalent to 3.57 % of the area of Romania. In the north of the district Caras -Severin and the Poiana Rusca Mountains, lies further south the Banat Mountains, to the east the Tarcu Mountains ( Munţii Tarcu ), in the west the Banat Mountains and in the south it borders the Danube.
