Carcoar Dam

The Carcoar Reservoir is a reservoir in the middle of the Australian state of New South Wales during the Belubula River 6 km above the town of Carcoar. It has a concrete arch dam with free overflow, which is 57 m high and 187 m wide. When water is high, the volume of the reservoir is 35.8 million m³. The overflow is designed for a passage of 105 mcm / d.

The water of the reservoir is drained directly into the Belubula River, where it is used for irrigation of the land.

The dam is curved in both directions.

Wetlands

Beginning of the 1990s promoted the government of New South Wales at Carcoar Dam to reduce the system of wetlands, the blue-green algae that had made the lake for recreational use unusable. Even for the impregnation of domestic animals, the water of the dam was no longer usable because of the algae infestation. The wetlands should serve as Sinkbecken for nutrients before they reached the dam.
