Cardenolide

Cardenolides (Greek kardia, heart) are a class of steroids that are found in many plants in the form of glycosides. Many cardenolides are among the cardioactive steroids and their glycosides, the cardenolide glycosides to the cardiac glycosides.

Cardenolides are C 23 steroids having methyl groups at C-10 and C -13, as well as an unsaturated γ - lactone at C- 17th This group also includes the Cardadienolide and Cardatrienolide.
