The Slim - sedge is common in almost all of Europe, North Africa, West and North Asia. It grows on the banks of water bodies, ditches and wet meadows and flood channels.

She prefers sicker or AC aces, nutrient -and base- rich, moderately acidic, more or less half-bog sand, loam and clay soils. The Slender Sedge is the Kennart of Slim harrows Ried ( Caricetum gracilis Tx. 1937) and grows mostly in contact or penetration of wet meadow communities ( Calthion ) or companies within the riparian hardwood ( Alno - Ulmion ).
