Caribou (musician)

Daniel Victor Snaith (born 1978 in London, Ontario), known by the stage name Caribou, Daphni and (formerly ) Manitoba, is a Canadian electro - musician.

Snaith, son of Victor Snaith mathematician, was born in London and grew up in Dundas Canadian. He attended Parkside Secondary School and studied mathematics at the University of Toronto and at Imperial College in London. There he received his doctorate with a thesis entitled Overconvergent Siegel Modular Symbols.

Career

Initially Snaith worked under the name " Manitoba ". Following an action brought by Richard Manitoba, however, he had to give up the name.

His 2007 released album Andorra won the Polaris Music Prize in 2008, the album Swim 2011 received the Juno Award in the category "Electronic Album of the Year ".

Usually Snaith is supported in live performances by a live band, in which he mostly plays drums.

Snaith currently resides in England.
