Carl Brewer (politician)

Carl Brewer ( born March 8, 1957) is an American politician. As the first African-American, he was elected mayor of Wichita in Kansas in 2007 and confirmed on April 5, 2011 in his office.

Brewer attended until 1975, the Wichita North High School and studied at the Friends University. For 30 years he worked in the aircraft industry, Boeing, Cessna and Spirit AeroSystems. From 2001 to 2007 he was a member of the Council of Wichita Wichita 's City Council District 1.

Brewer is a member of the board of the National League of Cities.
