Carl Ehrenberg

Carl Emil Theodor Ehrenberg ( born April 5, 1878 in Dresden, † February 26, 1962 in Munich) was a German composer.

Life

The brother of the violinist and painter Paul Ehrenberg studied at the Conservatory of Dresden under Felix Draeseke. He was then Kapellmeister in Dortmund, Würzburg, Poznan, Augsburg, Metz and Lausanne and in 1922 Kapellmeister State Opera in Berlin. From 1925 to 1935 he taught at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, joined the NSDAP in 1932 (member number 1240737 ) and was in the period from 1935 to 1945 professor at the Musikhochschule in Munich. In addition, he was a member of the Nazi regime within the student body music educator of the kingdom musicianship.

Ehrenberg composed an opera, two symphonies, symphonic sketches, two orchestral suites, an overture, male choirs with orchestra, a cello concerto, chamber music, incidental music and songs.

It rests on the Munich North Cemetery.
