Carl Marcus Tuscher

Karl Markus Tuscher Carl Marcus ( baptized on June 1, 1705 in Nuremberg, † January 6, 1751 in Copenhagen ) was a German painter and engraver.

Life

Tuschers date of birth is not known. His father's name was either Ferdinand or Ferdinand Tuscher Tischer. Four or five years remained Markus Tuscher in the care of his mother, after which they took him to a foundling hospital in Nuremberg, where he made his first experiments with drawings. The " nurse " at the Foundling, Carl Benedict GEUDER of Herold Mountain, became aware of Tuscher and sent him to John Daniel Preisler, part of a painting and publishing family in Nuremberg, who taught him. For ten years, was taught by Markus Tuscher Preisler, then, in 1728, Tuscher traveled with a scholarship his home to Italy. In Rome he became acquainted with the art collector Philipp von Stosch. At the same time Markus Tuscher worked as a stone cutter. He planned, son of Johann Daniel Price Jewellers to return with Johann Justin Preisler, returned to Germany in 1734 he was, however, included in the company of Baron von Stosch and remained there for four years. 1740 Tuscher traveled to Florence. Another four years Tuscher was in London busy preparing for the Egyptian book of travels of his friend Friedrich Ludwig north to surrender and to provide them with engravings. Finally Tuscher moved to Copenhagen, where he was professor and royal court painter. Tuscher probably had the idea of the octagonal square in Frederiksstaden, which is known as Amalienborg today.
